Another strike announced at Kiel Canal_UPDATED


The Kiel Canal authorities have advised of a strike from 0600 hours local time March 27 starting at Brunsbüttel locks, reports. The strike is expected to last 24 hours, though this has not been officially confirmed. Delays for both direction, south- and northbound, have to be expected.

It is understood that vessels already inside the Canal when the strike starts will be able to clear to the Baltic.

ISM sources predict strike actions in Brunsbuettel to end at 0600 hrs local time Wednesday March 28. Authorities will allow vessels to enter from the Baltic already around midnight.

Further strike actions will hardly take place at least during the next couple of weeks.
